MWH Business Solutions Group Conducts Workshop for Colorado Entities

BROOMFIELD, Colo., April 23, 2009 - MWH, the wet infrastructure sector leader and global provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, held a "Navigating the Stimulus" workshop for Colorado entities, providing information and expertise on qualifying for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding, identifying funds that are most applicable to organizational priorities and meeting accountability and transparency mandates.

The workshop, hosted by MWH's Business Solutions Group (BSG) in partnership with The 5 Star Institute, featured remarks from Colorado State Senator Gail Schwartz, Colorado Secretary of State Bernie Buescher and MWH Chairman Don Smith, who emphasized the importance of "playing offense" when it comes to the ARRA funds.  Amy Broughton, market intelligence manager for MWH global planning, discussed the opportunities and challenges that come from ARRA funding prior to a panel discussion featuring André Pettigrew, director of economic development for the City and County of Denver, John Conley from the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology and Mona Newton from the Colorado Governor's Energy Office who highlighted some of the funding priorities for the state, including "shovel ready" projects, broadband access and renewable energy.

"This workshop was a great opportunity for MWH to bring together numerous entities from around Colorado to discuss the rather complex topic of the stimulus," says Elise DeGeorge, professional services consultant.  "MWH is fortunate to be in a position to educate and aid organizations in prioritizing, pursuing and tracking stimulus funding."

Following the workshop, attendees were invited to explore BSG and The 5 Star Institute's suite of resources available to meet the accountability demands of stimulus funding, such as the Vector5TM performance monitoring tool and the mPrism program management tool.

The workshop was held on April 22 in Denver and there is potential to host additional workshops in other locations throughout the U.S.  For more information on this workshop or the available MWH resources and expertise to navigate stimulus funding, contact Elise DeGeorge at 303.533.1932 or Elise.M.DeGeorge@mwhglobal.com.
