Building a Better World

BABW.png

Building a Better World is an inherent principal that guides our business and our lives as individuals. We aspire to leave a positive, lasting impact on people and the planet.

MWH Global is founded on the principle of providing improvements to the environment. What MWH does in the community is just as valuable as the infrastructure it constructs. With this in mind we want to share what we at MWH do every day to preserve and protect the Earth and its' resources. These practices include engineering and construction, water resources conservation, wastewater recycling, environmental engineering and more.

Featured Global Event: Earth Day
After witnessing the ravages of the 1969 massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day. Senator Nelson announced the idea for a "national teach-in on the environment" to the national media; recruited co-chair, Pete McCloskey, and hired Denis Hayes as national coordinator to promote events across the land.

On the 22nd of April, 20 million Americans took to the streets, parks, and auditoriums to demonstrate for a healthy, sustainable environment in massive coast-to-coast rallies. The first Earth Day in 1970 led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts.

In 1990, a group of environmental leaders asked Denis Hayes to organize another campaign. This time, Earth Day went global, mobilizing 200 million people in 141 countries. Today, the campaign for a clean environment continues to grow urgently as the effects of climate change become more apparent.  To read more, visit the Earth Day Network
