MWH Constructors Named One of Nation’s Safest Contractors by the Associated General Contractors of America

Broomfield, Colo., April 6, 2009 – MWH, the wet infrastructure sector leader and global provider of environmental engineering, construction and strategic consulting services, is proud to announce that MWH Constructors, Inc. was named by The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) as one of the nation’s safest contractors of 2008, taking second place in the construction management category of the AGC’s annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA). MWH Constructors ranks among the top 10 U.S. contractors in wet infrastructure and was founded in 1993 to manage MWH’s design-build and at-risk construction projects.

“It is a great honor and privilege for MWH Constructors to be honored for this prestigious construction safety award from the AGC,” said Joseph D. Adams, Jr., president of MWH Constructors. “MWH has achieved incredible safety levels across all of our job sites, and these awards recognize our team’s effort in safely building a better world, making safety part of our value system and our highest priority.”

The AGC’s CSEA program is the industry’s elite safety excellence awards program. The CSEA program honors construction companies that have developed and implemented premier safety and loss prevention programs, and it showcases companies that have achieved continuous improvements and maintenance of their safety, health management and risk control systems. Award winners were chosen by a panel of construction safety professionals from the public, private and nonprofit sectors. The awards were announced at AGC’s 90th annual convention held in San Diego in March.

“There’s no better measure of the strength of the company than its ability to keep its workers safe and healthy,” said Doug Pruitt, incoming president of AGC. “These companies understand that safety is much more than a series of requirements – it is a way of operating that drives every decision on every project, every time.”
