• Educational: MWH University conducts intensive workshops on gender and racial diversity for its employees. A diversity component also is included in many other internal training programs and workshops.
• Structural: MWH has a diversity council comprised of 12 individuals representing different races, ethnic backgrounds, ages, job classifications and geographical locations. This council advises management about the effectiveness of diversity policies and behaviors. It also serves as a confidential "sounding board" for colleagues about their own personal experiences.
• Recruitment: MWH has long been committed to hiring a more diverse workforce. Using statistical analysis data from the Engineering Workforce Commission, the company targets educational institutions with excellent academic reputations and a solid representation of women and minority students.

When compared to other U.S. companies, the results were especially encouraging. Overall, MWH rated above the U.S. average in 15 of 18 major categories, and near average in the remaining three major categories.
