MWH Global has selected Elizabeth Jachens, a graduate engineering student pursuing her degree in the water science field at Oregon State University, as the recipient of the 2016 America Water Works Association’s (AWWA) MWH scholarship. Each year, MWH sponsors a $5,000 scholarship through the AWWA for a graduate student seeking a degree in the water industry. The scholarship will be awarded at the 2016 AWWA Annual Conference in Chicago in June.
Jachens plans to use some of her scholarship to take a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Water Resources class this summer. She wants to learn more about how this technology can help facilitate solution development for water quality, availability, flooding and the management of water resources.
MWH is proud to support Jachens’ commitment to engineering in the water sciences field.
“Fostering the development of future water-focused professionals is important to us at MWH and we’re happy to award this scholarship to Elizabeth Jachens,” said Tim Wolfe, PhD., P.E., a technology leader for MWH. “By recognizing and rewarding students like Elizabeth, we’re helping shape the next generation of professionals to deliver solutions to communities around the world.”
