MWH, now part of Stantec, was commissioned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) as consultants to assist with the implementation of the Waste Incineration and Power Generation plant in Istanbul.
As part of the project, MWH will align practices with international and national standards, ensuring the design meets legislative regulations and terms of conditions, and oversee all studies, reports, projects, designs, drawings, and calculations prepared by the contractor. To keep IMM abreast of all developments, the team will prepare its own detailed reports along with comments and suggestions, before breaking ground on the project.
MWH will be granted oversight of each component of the project, including the process, landscape, architectural, construction, electrical and mechanical, equipment, instrumentation, infrastructure, and all calculations. The team will provide detailed reports to the client on all aspects of the project.
“We are very proud to be involved in this important and landmark project for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, which will be the largest energy from waste plant in Europe. It is a great opportunity for us to deliver our expertise in order to support Turkey with more sustainable energy generation avenues and state of the art solid waste management,” says Dr. Murat Sarioglu, Director of Turkey Operations.
