Jim Bradley of MWH Global in New Zealand has been recognized for his contributions in the fields of Environmental and Public Health Engineering throughout his professional career. Jim has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ), the most prestigious class of membership within the organisation.
Distinguished Fellowship is the most prestigious IPENZ membership class; achieving IPENZ Fellowship status recognizes your outstanding contributions as a leader of the engineering profession. The Distinguished Fellows, is awarded when as a Fellow of IPENZ, you’ve made an eminent contribution to leadership in engineering, technology or science over an extended period of time. For perspective, Distinguished Fellows are expected to be no more than 10% of the total Fellowship of the institution (n.b. total Fellowship is no more than 10% of the total membership of the Institution), effectively meaning that at any time Distinguished Fellows make up only 1% of the membership of the Institute.
Throughout his 46 year career to date, Jim has been highly respected for his holistic approach to and his ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders of all backgrounds.
Water is now his specialty and he often presents at various conferences both abroad and domestically. He is deeply involved in the Water sector within New Zealand, working with groups formulating New Zealand’s Waste Strategy, and the Ministry for the Environment’s Sustainable Waste Water Management Handbooks. The citation read at the IPENZ Award ceremony also mentioned to Jim’s willingness to share his knowledge, dedicating his time to mentoring young graduates and concluded with: “He inspires others. He’s passionate about his work. He’s an enthusiast – and an achiever.”
Internationally, Jim is on the Joint International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research – International Water Association on Marine Outfalls Committee, where they provide global thought-leadership on Marine Outfall systems.
Previously, Jim has also received the inaugural IPENZ William Pickering Award for Engineering Leadership and the inaugural IPENZ Supreme Technical Achiever Award for Sustainability and Clean technology.
