London, 10 May 2016 – MWH, now part of Stantec, is the proud sponsor to today’s event at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), that focuses on increasing the private sector involvement in the financing and delivery of green infrastructure investments, bringing together two of the key sustainable Development Goals: the call for urgent action to combat climate change and to deliver resilient infrastructure.
The meeting is organized by the EBRD, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee and focuses on one the key topics in the transition story of the EBRD region. Green infrastructure helps to lay the foundations for economic growth in the region, while promoting carbon, resource and energy efficiency and the reduction of impacts on the environment.
The EBRD is a valued client for MWH in the field energy efficiency and sustainable energy financing. MWH is responsible for the implementation of a number of sustainable energy credit lines, such as KoSEP in Kosovo, EgyptSEFF in Egypt, as well as the main credit lines in Turkey: TurSEFF, MidSEFF, and TuREEFF, supporting Turkish businesses in developing green energy initiatives, reducing high energy intensity and production costs, increasing industrial competitiveness, and decreasing GHG emissions and the overall energy dependence.
President Sir Suma Chakrabarti of the EBRD gave the opening speech of the event at the EBRD head office in London, attended by approximately 200 people.
