Congratulations is in order for MWH, now part of Stantec, employees who helped with the San Diego Water Authority’s Emergency & Carryover Storage Project. The project has won the coveted 2017 ASCE Outstanding Projects and Leaders award for Outstanding Civil Engineering achievement.
MWH, now part of Stantec, is honored to have helped in the final stage of the E&CS project by raising the existing dam height by 35.7 meters (117 feet), making the San Vicente Dam the tallest roller-compact concrete dam in the world, standing at an astounding 102.7 meters tall (337 feet).
“Anticipating problems and finding solutions is at the heart of a civil engineer’s work,” said ASCE’s 2017 President Norma Jean Mattei, Ph.D., P.E. F.SEI, F.ASCE. “The San Diego Water Authority planned for the future, making an investment that ensures the public’s health, safety, and welfare in case of disaster.”
Congratulations to the San Diego Water Authority and to MWH team members that helped make the project possible.
