Broomfield, CO, August 20 – MWH Constructors announced it has been awarded the Safety Excellence Award for 2011 from the National Utility Contractor Association (NUCA) of Colorado, the only trade association dedicated solely to the utility construction industry. MWH won the award in the over 50,000 man hours category.
Several award entries were received in this category, but National NUCA Secretary Jeffrey Rumor stated “MWH Constructors’ safety record was, without question, the best entry submitted.”
“Recognition by the National Utility Contractors Association at the local level for construction safety is an honor,” said Laura Casey, vice president and global health and safety director of MWH Constructors. “This award proves we are competing with the best underground and utility contractors in the state and shows our continued dedication to project safety.”
The Safety Excellence Award was established by NUCA of Colorado to recognize companies that strive for safety excellence and the general wellbeing of their employees. NUCA awards the Safety Excellence Award in multiple categories, which are established according to total man hours worked. Companies are judged according to their incidence rates, safety statement and safety program information. Participation in NUCA safety programs and activities is also taken into consideration.
The award presentation took place at the 2012 NUCA of Colorado annual meeting held last month in Greenwood Village, CO.
