MWH Caring Foundation AmeriCares DonationBROOMFIELD, Colo., Nov. 14, 2012 — The devastation of Hurricane Sandy continues to be felt by millions of East Coast residents. To help those most impacted, global consulting, engineering and construction firm MWH Global today announced a donation of $50,000 to AmeriCares, a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs.

The MWH Caring Foundation was formed in 2002 to align with the organization’s purpose of Building a Better World and has since contributed more than $900,000 to charitable, educational and relief organizations. In addition to support for communities impacted by Hurricane Sandy, the Foundation has contributed to relief efforts following the Colorado wildfires (2012), flooding in Queensland, Australia (2011), the Chilean Earthquake (2010), the Pakistan Earthquake (2006) and Hurricane Katrina (2005).

The contribution will provide urgently needed support to help restore health care services in affected communities. To date, AmeriCares emergency teams have responded with deliveries of relief supplies, bottled water, and deployment of a mobile medical unit to help families in crisis in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, New Jersey and Connecticut.

“Sandy victims will need our help in the months ahead as they begin the recovery process,” said Diana Maguire, AmeriCares vice president of institutional relations. “With MWH Global’s support, we will have the resources to be there for the long term, restoring health care services and helping survivors rebuild their lives.”

The effort was announced by MWH President and CEO, Alan Krause, who expressed sympathy and concern for those affected on behalf of the company and its employees. “At a time like this, it is clear that a helping hand is needed by our fellow citizens. MWH is deeply committed to providing immediate support and services needed to restore communities and sustain families as they rebuild homes and businesses.”
