MWH, now part of Stantec, was commissioned by the Town of Davie (Town) after their water treatment plant experienced an objectionable odor from its finished water. In order to get at the root of the issue, extensive water quality data, including site visits, vendor feedback, and consulting research, was conducted which led to the discovery that the source of the odor originated from the Anion Exchange (IEX) System.
Renuka Mohammed-Bajnath (Town), Jeffrey Pinter (Town), André McBarnette, P.E., P.M.P. (MWH now part of Stantec), and GJ Schers (CH2M, formerly MWH), published an article in the Florida Water Resources Journal (FWRJ) that presents the operational improvements performed to the IEX system to preserve the Town’s drinking water quality and eliminate the objectionable odor from its finished water.
