Environmental restoration of hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste is best left to trained professionals with strong knowledge of regulatory issues, quality control measures and technical solutions – as well as an impeccable safety record. Cradle-to-Grave Services MWH is a global leader in environmental remediation and nuclear services. We have provided US $2.63 billion of environmental restoration services – including $560 million of cradle-to-grave hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive (HTRW) services to the U.S. federal government over the last five years. MWH is capitalizing on a strong engineering team and foundation in the United Kingdom to provide services to the important nuclear services cleanup program there and throughout Europe. From program management services to decontamination and decommissioning to depleted uranium removal and radiation monitoring, MWH professionals have completed and are executing a wide range of nuclear and nuclear decommissioning related projects, programs and environmental investigations. Proven Experience More than 100 MWH professionals have specific experience in program management, radiological and nuclear decommissioning, license termination, remedial action, waste management and regulatory issues. These experts include engineers in all related nuclear disciplines, site safety officers, construction superintendents, waste management specialists, decontamination and decommissioning technicians and nuclear service business unit managers. MWH’s award-winning knowledge network links these colleagues quickly and easily together on a project. Regardless of the location, MWH team members have ready access to specialists in health physics, radiological controls, radioactive waste management and other nuclear-related skills. These MWH professionals – coupled with thousands of other trained engineers, scientists, project managers, IT specialists, business consultants and asset managers within the company – provide clients with a proven, multi-disciplined approach to achieving their project goals. Quality Management Each MWH project is managed with quality control in mind. MWH’s comprehensive Program Management System mPRISM delivers state-of-the-art data management, integration, analyses and communication capabilities. MWH uses this system to monitor work progress for a program that contains literally hundreds of individual projects against agreed-upon performance measurement baselines for individual projects. This allows more effective decision making and program execution. A wide variety of information and key performance indicators are tracked through mPRISM, including costs, schedules, key documents and subcontractor performance. This means detailed real-time client reports are available at any level within the program and project scope. This focus on internal quality management allows MWH to continuously improve our customer relationships, management processes and overall performance.
MWH enjoys an established track record of working with regulatory agencies. Our professionals work closely with regulators throughout a project to build trust and obtain necessary approvals. This proactive approach allows accelerated environmental investigations and property transfers, as well as cost-effective, risk-based solutions that are setting new technical standards. Whether a government facility, Superfund site or privately owned property, MWH’s goal is always to achieve the least-cost closure of a site as quickly as feasible. Safety Record An outstanding safety record ensures MWH completes projects safely, throughout all phases of the job. MWH employees receive comprehensive safety training and site-specific safety orientations prior to performing certain tasks. Additional safety communication tools and supplemental training courses are provided regularly to our clients. Perhaps the most important reason for MWH’s excellent safety record is its employees. MWH people take ownership for the company’s safety and health programs. This focus on safety has resulted in MWH’s low Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of 0.59 – well below the industry average of 1.0. In Europe, the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has awarded MWH its Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety Excellence – for three consecutive years. In the United States, MWH was awarded first place in the Associated General Contractors (AGC) National Safety Competition. MWH’s Nuclear Services:
